Syeyutsus is a policy framework for reconciliation based on Nanaimo Ladysmith School District Goal of Truth and Reconciliation.
Learning with Syeyutsus is a Nanaimo Ladysmith Public School initiative in partnership with UBC Press and Vancouver Island Regional Library. Together, we have curated a speaker series with renowned authors at the forefront of Indigenous topics pertaining to Truth & Reconciliation Call to Action #57.
TRC #57 calls upon federal, provincial, territorial, and municipal governments to provide education to public servants on the history of Aboriginal peoples, including the history and legacy of residential schools the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Treaties and Aboriginal rights, Indigenous law, and Aboriginal–Crown relations.
We acknowledge our ancestors and those that have gone before us leading this work. We wish to offer our sincere gratitude and a special thank-you to all speakers in this series.
We encourage all citizens to take the time to learn the true history of Canada and we hope you enjoy this series.
