In 2026, Vancouver Island Regional Library assumes stewardship of the series from Nanaimo Ladysmith Public School (NLPS) in collaboration with UBC Press and welcomes University of Toronto Press as a guest partner for Season 6. NLPS continues as a valued legacy partner. VIRL approaches stewardship of the series as both an honour and a responsibility\u2014focused on accessibility, sustainability, and respectful partnership so the series can continue reaching communities across the province.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Season Six<\/h4>\n

Season 6 of the series is shaped by the questions explored in\u00a0Resurgence and Reconciliation: Indigenous\u2013Settler Relations and Earth Teachings<\/u><\/i><\/a>, and by its careful invitation to think deeply about how these two ideas are often understood. Rather than treating resurgence and reconciliation as goals to be achieved, this year-long study approaches them as ongoing, relational practices\u2014learned through attention, responsibility, and care over time.<\/p>\n

Stewardship<\/h4>\n

Founded by Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools as Learning with Syeyutsus, and now stewarded by Vancouver Island Regional Library<\/a> in partnership with UBC Press<\/a> and University of Toronto Press<\/a>, the series remains rooted in respectful partnership, accessibility, and accountability to reconciliation in action.<\/p>\n

TRC #57 calls upon federal, provincial, territorial, and municipal governments to provide education to public servants on the history of Aboriginal peoples, including the history and legacy of residential schools the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Treaties and Aboriginal rights, Indigenous law, and Aboriginal\u2013Crown relations.<\/p>\n
